Playboy founder Hugh Hefner dies at age 91

(Reuters) – Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, who helped usher in the 1960s sexual revolution with his groundbreaking men’s magazine and built a business empire around his libertine lifestyle, died on Wednesday at the age of 91, Playboy Enterprises said. Hefner, once called the “prophet of pop hedonism” by Time magazine, peacefully passed away at his home, Playboy Enterprises said in a statement. Fast-moving wildfire destroys homes in Northern California

(Reuters) – A fast-moving wildfire destroyed several homes and forced the evacuation of residents in Northern California on Tuesday, local media and fire officials said. The fire started at 1.15 p.m. and burned 1,000 acres (405 hectares) in Butte County, about 85 miles (135 km) north of Sacramento, according to information on the Cal Fire website. Prominent Russian theater director detained in embezzlement case

MOSCOW (Reuters) – A prominent Russian theater director who has lamented what he says is the lack of freedom and growing social conservatism in his country was detained on Tuesday and accused of embezzling state funds. Russia’s Investigative Committee said it suspected Kirill Serebrennikov of embezzling at least 68 million rubles ($1.15 million) in state funds earmarked for an art project, it said in a statement. Pilot killed as helicopter crashes while fighting Portugal blaze  

LISBON (Reuters) – A light helicopter that was taking part in firefighting efforts in northern Portugal crashed and exploded on Sunday, killing its pilot and further raising the death toll from the country’s deadliest summer of wildfires, officials said. “The helicopter hit high-tension wires and crashed.
