Local departments in need of volunteer firefighters  

Local fire departments are in serious need of volunteer firefighters. Tiny Township, Penetanguishene, Tay Township and Georgian Bay Township all need people to fill their ranks. That’s why they are working together to recruit and train applicants. “We could use 20 people through our five stations. Donation brings in two robots to help mental health services in northern Saskatchewan  

A $500,000 donation from RBC is aiming to improve mental health services for kids in northern Saskatchewan. The Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation announced the donation Tuesday. The money will buy two robots that will allow doctors in Saskatoon to see and treat children with mental health issues in northern communities. The children’s hospital has yet to decide which communities will receive the robots. City councillor vying for re-election claims he’s been targeted by vandals  

Damaging and removing election signs is a common problem during any campaign, but one Calgary councillor believes his campaign has been unfairly singled out. Evan Woolley is running for re-election in Ward 8 and says that about 20 percent of his signs have been taken or defaced. “They would’ve had to have unscrewed; these were on a bold sign so these would’ve been all singularly unscrewed; this is no insignificant effort,” Woolley said as he showed off some of the damaged signs collected at his campaign office. Two more charged with 2nd-degree murder after man found dead in Sask. park  

Two more people have been charged with second-degree murder after a man was found dead at a provincial park in southwestern Saskatchewan last year. Colin Perrault, 49, and Todd Donaldson, 48 – both from Swift Current – are scheduled to appear in court on the charges Oct. 10.
