Murray, 68, was seen laughing and whispering conspiratorially with Gomez, 26, on the gala carpet for their new zombie comedy “The Dead Don’t Die,” directed by Jim Jarmusch.
At one point, Murray was seen whispering in Gomez’s ear and giving her a kiss on the check.
“Literally just watched Bill Murray whisper something in Selena Gomez’s ear,” Vulture writer and red carpet observer Rachel Handler tweeted as the two walked by. “Critics will be debating what he said for decades.”
Gomez pulled some faces at her co-star and the two joined the rest of the cast before heading into the comedy’s gala premiere (in theaters June 14).
Murray plays a sheriff in a small town whose townsfolk, including Gomez, are taken over by the undead creatures.
“The Dead Don’t Die” is the opening-night film for the festival, which continues through May 25. It’s Gomez’s first festival in the South of France.
