Oscar-nominated actress Michelle Williams and her husband, singer-songwriter Phil Elverum, have split, according to multiple news reports.
People’s unnamed source said the split was “amicable … and they remain friends,” and THR, which also described the situation as amicable, cited a source saying the split occurred toward the beginning of the year.
Williams, 38, who has received four Oscar nominations, is now playing Tony-winning actress and dancer Gwen Verdon in the FX miniseries, “Fosse/Verdon.” Elverum, 40, performs under the name Mount Eerie.
According to a September Vanity Fair cover story, Williams and Elverum, who met through a mutual friend, married last summer in a secret ceremony in the Adirondacks that was attended by just a few friends and their two daughters.
Each has been raising a daughter after the death of a partner. Williams has a daughter, Matilda, now 13, with Heath Ledger, who died in 2008. Elverum’s daughter was just 18 months old when his wife, Genevieve Castree, died in 2016, a little over a year after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
