Corrections & Clarifications: A previous version of this story misstated John Travolta’s age.
The world loves John Travolta’s new bald look. John Travolta appreciates that.
The “Grease” star, 64, doffed his baseball cap on Instagram Thursday and thanked fans for the shaved-head appreciation.
“Thanks for liking the new hairdo,” Travolta said with a smile during a break dirt-biking with his son Ben, 8. Travolta noted that his Instagram followers had passed one million after he posted a picture of himself with a sleekly shaved head — a follicle-free start for the new year.
“I hope everyone had a great New Year!” the ruggedly bearded Travolta wrote in the caption of the bald New Year’s picture as he hoisted a martini with olive next to his daughter, Ella.
The Internet wigged out.
2018’s biggest movie bombs: ‘Gotti,’ ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ to ‘Robin Hood’
The comments on Travolta’s boldly bald post were immediately enthusiastically supportive, certainly far better reviews than he received for his last role as the mobster don in the critically derided “Gotti.”
“Bald is really, really beautiful!!!” wrote one, while another wrote, “Promise to never cover up again unless it is for a role!!!! 😘”
Travolta has sported some questionable hair looks in recent years, which could be a thing of the past with the new style. The actor shaved the head to play a secret agent in 2010’s “From Paris With Love.”
Many online pundits have speculated that Travolta was inspired to get the new look by bald rapper Pitbull, who wrote songs for “Gotti.”
But our personal theory is that it was astronaut John Glenn who planted the seed. As you can see Travolta was mesmerized with Glenn’s look when they appeared together in late 2018.
