USA TODAY sits down with heartthrob Noah Centineo to talk about playing Peter Kavinsky and new movie “Sierra Burgess is a Loser.”
To all the boys and all the girls who have loved Netflix’s adaptation of Jenny Han’s YA novel before, we have great news.
“To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” is officially getting a sequel.
Netflix presented the announcement in both a love note addressed to “All the Fans I’ve Loved Before” and a video featuring stars Noah Centineo (heartthrob Peter Kavinsky) and Lana Condor (protagonist Lara Jean Covey).
In the video, Condor is thinking of what to buy her co-star, Centineo, for Christmas. Then, he calls her, and gives her his signature “Woah, woah, woah!” line before they both share the “To All the Boys” sequel news. After that, Condor picks up another call, presumably from another young actor, and says, “You’re going to make a perfect John Ambrose.”
This appears to hint that a new actor will take on the role of John Ambrose McLaren, a character who was played in the first film, briefly, by Jordan Burtchett, and should have a more prominent role in the next movie, if the story sticks to Han’s books.
“To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before,” a movie about a girl whose secret love letters to her crushes are inadvertently published, became a huge talker after it was released in August. The movie served as Centineo’s breakout film before he gained millions of new social media followers and was cast in an upcoming “Charlie’s Angels” movie. The movie also prompted fans to question onscreen love interests Centineo and Condor’s real-life relationship.
In an interview with USA TODAY in September, Centineo said that their chemistry is real, but confirmed that they are not a couple.
“There’s something so great about platonic intimacy. We love each other dearly and we’ve been there for each other at different times and periods. So it is genuine.”
Centineo shared the new-movie announcement with his followers via a succinct tweet: “Sequel.”
