Here’s a look at the 5 happiest countries in the world, according to the United Nation’s 2018 World Happiness Report.
Got $3,500 to spare? You rent an entire island Norway for a week.
Fordypningsrommet is an island featuring tiny homes that you can only get to by boat, and the entire island is available for rent in Norway, according to multiple reports. One of its featured cabins includes “unprecedented views of the Northern Lights,” Business Insider notes.
The island’s cottages include two single beds or one double bed, while the tower-house includes two single beds. All the island’s nine houses “has its own function” – one for sleeping, one for the kitchen, etc.
” … you have to go down to the bathhouse to go to the toilet,” Visit Norway notes. “The facility is not particularly well-suited for those who are disabled.”
While the cabins are certainly an attraction, having won a prestigious architecture award, the island also includes a sauna by the sea, a bathhouse and a mini cathedral.
TripAdvisor reviews include headlines like “Isolated but the opposite of lonely” and “A magnificent escape from it all.”
There are some caveats, though. Be prepared to give up some modern conveniences.
“There are no shops here nor cars,” according to Visit Norway. “As a guest, you are encouraged to think carefully about water consumption. The drinking water is desalinated seawater. In addition, roof water (which can also be used to drink) is used.”
And the good news doesn’t stop there: If you’re short on the $3,500 and you’re an artist, you can apply for funding.
