Kevin Hart is no longer MC-ing the biggest award show of the year. So who should the Academy tap to host the 2019 Academy Awards?
“Saturday Night Live” has a few suggestions.
In the sketch “Oscar host auditions,” cast members impersonated a number of viable candidates for the job. Some highlights: Kate McKinnon’s squeaky-voiced Michelle Wolf jokes she loves the documentary about Eric Trump’s brain, “A Quiet Place.” Aidy Bryant’s on-point Hannah Gadsby asks like she does on her standup special, “Who’s going to break the tension?” “SNL” host Matt Damon does a winning Matthew McConaughey impression, where the actor talks about meeting his future self.
The rest of the “Saturday Night Live” finale episode was filled with funny takes on Christmas themes, from President Trump experiencing an “It’s a Wonderful Life” moment, to having inane arguments on the holidays, to partying with fellow cops on Christmas, to celebrating the holiday with the least-liked people in the U.K., to relegating certain ornaments to the back of the tree and remembering this Christmas as the best one ever despite how challenging the day truly is.
And then there was an unrelated but hilarious sketch that put dads in a Westminster Dog-style competition, with Matt Damon’s “Broadcast Dad” as the underdog winner.
