Jonas, 26, has had high-profile relationships with stars such as Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez and Lily Collins. But the actor/singer cherishes being able to reveal all that’s behind his showbiz exterior to “Quantico” star Chopra, 36.
“You have to be honest with your other half. That’s where the beauty of a real relationship is, being able to be your authentic self,” says Jonas. “I have that in my life now.”
Jonas voices the “perfect” character Lou in the upcoming animated movie “UglyDolls,” which premieres its first trailer Thursday. Lou seems to have it all, but isn’t able to show his true self.
“I hope that when people see this (movie), they’ll understand that it is possible to be loved and accepted exactly for who you are,” he says.
With the attention they’re receiving from the global media – including an intense following from the Indian press corp for Bollywood breakout Chopra – the two have to hunker down together and be real out of the spotlight, he says.
“It’s really about trying to keep as much time as you can for yourselves. Not letting the outside world penetrate the world that you create for each other, or the world with your family and friends and your inner circle,” says Jonas.
Chopra has entered the world of the famous Jonas family, including brothers Kevin and Joe, seamlessly. This circle has been a key for Jonas, who has grown up in the fame spotlight as part of the Jonas Brothers.
This week, Chopra posted multiple photos on Instagram from her bachelorette party with “Game of Thrones” star Sophie Turner, who is engaged to Joe Jonas. They even dubbed each other “the J sisters,” and shared a shot of the future sisters-in-law hungover on the couch the morning after.
“It’s been really beautiful. Really nice,” says Jonas about the way Chopra instantly fit into his family. “That’s the most important thing in my life, maintaining a close-knit circle of friends, family and loved ones.”
As for feverish worldwide speculation about the wedding date and details, Jonas is mum. But rest assured, he’s no groomzilla.
“I don’t think so,” he says. “I hope not.”
